[S]: maxuprc kernel parameter

Thanks for all the replies. My question concerned parameters that needed to
be set in order for our Library's catalog database (Sirsi Corp's Unicorn
product). With little thanks to Sirsi's support, the answers provided by DEC
and this list were enough clues to lead us to the answer.

It seems that setting certain configurable parameters in /etc/sysconfigtab
is best, because it overrides the kernel parameters and requires no kernel
rebuild. One extremely useful command, provided by DEC and Vipin Gokhale,
DEC SBU, Oracle Corporation, who was wondering which mysterious 'database
vendor' I was referring to :) The command '/sbin/sysconfig -q proc' will
list all the parameters currently set. That command proved most useful,
because changing the parameters in param.h and /sys/conf HOSTNAME,
rebuilding the kernel and rebooting did not change some of the parameters we
set. Happily, setting them in /etc/sysconfigtab did. Thanks again,
