Recently I posted the following question:
We have a user trying to run either Netscape v2 or v3 on a DEC
3000/400 with a PMAG-JA video card (I don't know what that is). The
system is running DUnix 3.2C.
When they run Netscape, all they get are errors in the xterm window they
used to start Netscape. No Netscape window appears. Here is a sampling
of the errors:
netscape: X Error of failed request: BadWindow (invalid Window parameter)
Major opcode of failed request: 61 (X_ClearArea)
Resource id in failed request: 0x3400015
Serial number of failed request: 167
Current serial number in output stream: 995
Netscape v1 works fine, and v2/v3 work ok on my 3000/400 with a PMAGB-BA
video board.
Thanks to all who replied. Scooter Morris' answer below contains the
fix for the problem.

Mike,
This is a known problem with 24 bit displays on DUnix and Netscape.
The solution is to run netscape as follows:
netscape -visual default -install
which will cause netscape to use the default visual. This is fixed in
Dunix 4.0, but the fix breaks Java **sigh**.
