SUMMARY: ping patch

I originally had the following problem:

After getting the time to delve back into this problem, I found that
it was indeed an operator headspace problem. Basically, I forgot to
apply the correct ip_input.o patch. I had applied the patch 350-248
and copied the same ip_input.o patch again. So, the ping problem is
gone on this 3000 tc machine. I will apply it to the remaining
workstations tomorrow night.
