I am having a weird problem this morning. The named service
stopped working. The symptoms are as follows:

    In daemon.log:

    Nov 5 10:50:17 <system> named[12730: ns_req:
    sendto([127.0.0.1].0): Can't assign requested address

    On the command line:

    % nslookup www.microsoft.com
*** Can't find server name for address 127.0.0.1: BAD ERROR VALUE
*** Default servers are not available
    %

I restarted the named service and it had no effect.

I restarted internet services (netsetup) and it worked once, then
    proceeded to fail again.

When I rebooted, the problem seems to have gone away (at least for
the 10 minutes the system has been up so far.

System: Alpha 2100 4/275 with two cpu's running DU 3.2D-1 (with
various patches to fix multi-cpu locking problems).

If anyone has seen this before or can suggest a solution, please
let me know ASAP as this is a production system and we can't
    afford much down time.
