I am using a DEC PC AXP 150 Model PB 200 (Boot message says DEC 2000
model 300) running DEC UNIX 4.0.
When the machine boots, it recognizes the ethernet card as ln0, prints
its ethernet address,then complains:
ln0: lost carrier, check connector.
Whent he machine is all up, I couldnot ping anyone, and no one could
ping it either. netsetup shows that eveything is set up right.
This happens no matter I don't have any cable connected to it, or have a
thin cable, or have a 10-baseT cable (it has two connectors for thin and
10-baseT cables). I even tried with cables that I know work fine. I also
tried with a cable that connects directly with another machine without
going through the hub.
Someone said that he solved the problem by entering the following
command at the SRM prompt >>>:
>>> set ewa0_mode Twisted-Pair
But my alpha does not take that as a valid input. Help does not show me
anything close to setting a cable type for the ethernet card.
Any suggestions ?
Thanks.
