Dear Managers,

On my site we have just installed networked DEC printserver 17 & 32+'s.

I am trying to setup my Alpha running DU4.0 to print to these devices.

I have added the printer name and IP address to my /etc/host file and
created a /etc/printcap as below.

psc_001|lp0|PSC_001:\
        :ct=remote:\
        :lf=/usr/adm/lperr:\
        :lp=_at_psc_001:\
        :mx#0:\
        :of=/usr/lbin/lpf:\
        :pl#66:\
        :pw#80:\
        :rp=psc_001:\
        :sd=/usr/spool/lpd:\
        :xf=/usr/lbin/xf:

After an 'init q', I attempted a test print using
'lptest | lpr -Ppsc_001'

'lpstat -t' produces the following:-

System default destination: lp
Scheduler is running
Output for printer psc_001 is sent to _at_psc_001
psc_001:
printer is on device '_at_psc_001' speed -1
        queuing is enabled
        printing is enabled
        1 entry in spool area
        no daemon present
Requests on psc_001:
Warning: no daemon present
Mon Nov 11 17:08:38 1996:
Rank Pri Owner Job Files Total Size
1st 0 root 3 (standard input) 16000 bytes

But no output is produced, any ideas would be very welcome, thanks in
advance.

Ron Ekins.
