Thanks to all those who cared to reply. As indicated in fact in previous
messages, particularly the one from Bruce Whittaker:
1) get the ping_plus tar file from
ftp://atlanta.service.digital.com/pub/mandatory_upgrades/AXP/OSF1/version
2) copy ALL the files from ./350-248 to /sys/BINARY
3) copy ip_input.o from the upper directory to /sys/BINARY.
This will replace the ip_input.o that was copied from ./350-248
(and IT HAS TO)
4) now do doconfig -c $HOSTNAME
5) everything proceeded smoothly (I am running DU 3.2c)
NOTE: In the install file, they say:
"copy all the .h files to the proper directory" .... which is not
totally clear!
In the ping patch (./350-248) there are 2 .h files:
socketvar.h and proto_uicp.h
I found that the 1rst one sits in /usr/sys/include/sys/ and the
2nd one in /usr/sys/include/net/
Not knowing exactly what to do, I recopied those 2 .h files in
/sys/BINARY _and_ in the above locations before rebuilding the
kernel.
Don't know whether this was correct or not, but apparently it
made no harm.....
