Someone recently asked about broadcasting mail out to all users, and one of
the responses was one that I had some trouble with, and haven't had time to
troubleshoot thoroughly. I thought someone else may have seen it.
The reply was:
>1. Use the bulletin feature of the qpopper POP3 daemon (available from
>ftp.qualcomm.com).
I am using said verion of qpopper (2.2 with DU 4.0), and have compiled it
for Bulletin support. I should say here that I am using the Bulletin
Database feature, as this machine only has POP3 email accounts on it.
There are no home directories or shells for the clients. When I send a
bulletin out, if there is no email in the users incoming mail file, the
POP3 client generates an error. If you email the person in question, so
that there is a message in the incoming file, the bulletin and message
are then properly downloaded without problems.
So, has anyone else run into this?
