Special thanks to Dr. Blinn for persistantly directing me in the right
direction.
DU 3.0B [I'll upgrade soon I promise]
Alpha 1000 4/200
4 rz28 drives in storage works, one tape, one cdrom.
Needed to add another SCSI controller card to add a 5th drive (rz29b).
To cable it properly use the new scsi card as if it was the old one, and
the old one as if it was the new one. Do not follow the instructions in
the Alpha manual, instead reverse where the cables go, and than follow
the instructions. I ordered the SCSI card, and internal cable kit, as
well as had to get a small patch cord to reach between the original SCSI
card and the new one.
This way you maintain the original
boot configurations, as well as drive configs. No ECU or kernal rebuilds
were necessary. No switching of fstab was needed either. Just add the
drive as usual.
Thanks again to everyone who helped me out.
