Thanks to all of you who replied.
Here is my original post:
Is there an easy way to rename a file domain other than:
1) Copy all filesets contents on another disk or backup the filesets
2) Remove the file sets + file domains
3) Create new file domain and the filesets
4) Restore the filesets (from tape or other disk) to new domain
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Most of you suggested that I rename the /etc/fdmns/old_domain_name directory
to /etc/fdmns/new_domain_name after unmounting all filesets of the domain.
But, a safe source told me:
If a domain doesn't know its own name, then you could
probably rename one by dismounting all the file systems,
changing the name of the directory the device links are
in and remounting the file systems under the new name.
I suspect the domain does know its name so that software
can be written to scan devices and rebuild the configuration
for system recovery (a feature that I hear is being worked
on). I've never heard of a tool that will change a domain's
name.
Knowing this, I fear that renaming the /etc/fdmns/old_domain_name directory
could have bad side effects _LATER_ when new tools are developped. Also, in
the fdmns(4) man page it is written:
RESTRICTIONS:
Do not remove or modify the contents of this directory....
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Conclusion: Use the rename trick at your own risk. For my part, I'll stick
to my tedious but safer method.
Thanks again
