Hi,
The 224.0.0.1 IP address that appears with "netstat -ia" command is
the Multicast Address.
IP addresses in the range 224.0.0.0 ~ 247.255.255.255 are used for IP
multicasting.
It's a D class address, and used for IGMP (Internet Group Management
Protocol).
It would be used for sending things like audio & video that could be
received my multiple systems concurrently. If the bandwidth allows it,
and with the appropriate software it can be used for teleconferences
and things like that.
