I just installed a brand new DU 4.0 system. I am getting confusing advice
from Digital Support group on how to set up disks. Here is the background
info:

I have nine 4.3 GB disks. I want to set up so that I have six GB for Oracle
database tables, and twenty GB for data area for various scientific programs,
and the rest of disk space for other purposes. I also want to use striping for
I/O performance.

The Digital onsite support helped me set up the disks by using the Advanced
File System (advfs). After I learned more about advfs, I realized that we
broke two rules: 1) We defined multiple filesets on a disk volume; 2) We confi-
gured a volume set using six volumes. So I called Digital Technical Support.
Now I was told that I should use LSM instead.

Please help! Should I use advfs or LSM? What are the pluses and minuses of
each utility? Any comment is welcome.
