Hello everyone,
After setting up multiple domains on a dUNIX box
(AlphaServer 1000 4/266) running 3.2c I now have another
question(s).
I want to be able to run 2 webservers (apache 1.1.1) on this
box - no problem? hang on, let me explain - obviously I can
have (and do) multiple webservers running (ports 80, 81 and 82 for
different projects). For example, I can have the following
web sites :-
http://site1.domain.ac.uk
http://site2.differentdomain.ac.uk:81
where this box is configured to serve both of the domains.
What my boss actually wants is the following :-
http://site1.domain.ac.uk
http://site2.differentdomain.ac.uk
A subtle difference but a biggy for all that. So here are my
questions. Given that I've been lead to believe that this can
be done using 2 IPs :-
1. Can I configure this box to support 2 IPs (I think this
is possible but currently don't know how to do it)
2. If the box supports 2 IPs do they have to have the same
netmask or can they be any valid IPs. e.g. will ab.cd.ef.gh
and ij.kl.mn.op work on the same box?
3. If and when I get the box to recognize 2 IPs how the heck
does that allow me to update my apache webservers such that
I get :-
http://site1.domain.ac.uk
http://site2.differentdomain.ac.uk
to both be recognised?
4. Can I do the same *without* requiring 2 IPs?
5. Who invented liquid soap, and why? (Give yourself a cookie if
you know which film that's from)
Any help on this will be much appreciated, naturally I'll
summarise for the list.
Cheers,
mark
