The original question was this:

> Now that we have confirmation from out sales rep that he will not
> fulfill his obligation to get us Scheduler, we are looking for a
> suitable replacement. Does anybody have any suggestions for a product
> that does a comperable job at a comperable price?

I got several responses very quickly, thanks.

The options break down like this:

There are few different free batch queue systems, notably (generic) NQS and
DQS (http://www.scri.fsu.edu/~pasko/dqs.html). We try to use the latter, since
there is a hack to make it work with DCE DFS (whic we use). To my taste it
also seems to be a nicer batch queue system.

You can take a look at the CA-Unicenter product. It's BIGGER than scheduler
but I think it's modular, so you can buy only what you need. BTW, I think
there's a new release called TNG (Like star trek) but it's probably still buggy.

I guess I haven't followed this but if your looking for a batch
scheduler LSF is the clear leader and I think that's who DEC
sends you to if you ask for one...

It seems that I was a bit premature. By putting enough pressure on DEC it
looks like they are going to deliver as previously arrainged.

Thanks to all who replied, I am sure the information will not go to waist.
