Thanks to Torben Leifsen <torben.leifsen_at_astro.uio.no> who confirmed my
suspicion that the Open3D kit might fix the problem I had with a machine
check under Digital UNIX V4.0A.
I installed the Open3D V4.1 kit (on the October 1996 layered product
disc #1) support for the PowerStorm 3D30 plus other mandatory subsets,
restarted the X server, and InlayColor no longer kills the machine. The
relevant lines from the output of setld -i are:
O3DDWSBASE410 installed DWS Open3D Base V4.1
O3DDWSCOMMON410 installed Open3D Common V4.1
O3DDWSCONFIG410 installed Open3D Config V4.1
O3DDWSZLXE410 installed DWS Open3D ZLX-E, ZLXp-E, PowerStorm 3D30, PowerStorm 4D20 V4.1
OSFSER3D405 installed X Servers for Open3D (Windowing Environment)
(The last one here was already installed as part of the base system)
For this particular collection of software subsets, I did not have to
rebuild a kernel which made the installation much less painful.
Thanks!
==John
