upgrade DU3.2C to DU4.0

Hi,

I am trying to upgrade my AlphaWorkstation 400 Operating System
from DU3.2C to DU4.0. It has two boot devices, sharing the
same /usr directory. I want to upgrade both to DU4.0.
The problem is, after I upgraded one (dka0)
of them, and when I tried to upgrade the other one (dka100),
the /sbin/installupdate didn't work because the old /sbin/loader
couldn't recognize the new libc.so which lives under the shared
/usr directory.

Could someone help me out?
