perl Syslog.pm problem on DU4.0A

I get the following error message when trying to 'use Sys::Syslog;' in a
perl script:

Undefined subroutine &Sys::Syslog::hostname called at Syslog.pm line 92.

The script used to work with perl 5.001m
Current versions are:
Digital Unix V4.0 464
perl, version 5.003 with EMBED
        built under dec_osf at Oct 22 1996 15:30:10
        + suidperl security patch

Any suggestions please?
