The original question was:

> I'm trying to run the Netman programs (interman and etherman) on our DEC
> AlphaServer 400/233 which has a DEC TULIP PCI ethernet interace at tu0.
> However, whenever I try to run the program eg. 'interman -I tu0' it
> always gives the error "no such file or directory" However, i can
> configure the tu0 interface using 'ifconfig tu0'.

And the 2 step solution was:

1) make sure that the kernel had

        options PACKETFILTER

in /sys/conf/"HOSTNAME" and then rebuild and install the new kernel

2) cd /dev
   ./MAKEDEV pfilt

Thanks to everybody who replied and Merry Christmas to everybody on this
list!
