MS-Exchange/UNIX Mail Intergration

Hi,
We are currently using Microsoft Mail version 3.5 (used for both
internal mail and Internet mail access) and will be migrating to
Microsoft Exchange in the near future. We will be using a system in the
near future that runs on UNIX and this application will generate emails
for users of the system based on certain events. Since the emails
generated in the UNIX system will end up in the UNIX account mailbox,
our users will end up having two separate mailboxes, one in Microsoft
Exchange and one in the UNIX system. We do not want our users to have
two separate mailboxes, and wish to integrate all emails into one
mailbox.

One way of integrating that we know of currently is to forward all
emails received in the UNIX account to the Microsoft Exchange account
mailbox. Using this method the users can access his/her email only
through Microsoft Exchange client.

What we are looking for if it is possible is to have one mailbox that
can be accessed from Microsoft Exchange or UNIX. Preferably this mailbox
should be in Microsoft Exchange and this mailbox can be accessed using
Microsoft Exchange client or from UNIX by the user having the same
account name in both the environments.

The response that I am looking for is from anyone having these similar
situation and what method was used to solve this problem, and what
options do we have in achieving this.

Any response will be much appreciated. Thank you.
