Quantum EMPIRE 2100s drives

Hi,

I recently purchased an Alphastation 255. I have a Quantum Empire 2100s
drive, and I would like to use it in the alpha. I seem to have hooked it
up properly (at least as far as I can tell, I've hooked up many SCSI devices
before).

What happens is that the system boots, it finds the drive at bootup and
I can also see it in the PROM when I use 'show devices'.

But when I try to format it or partition it, then I get all of these
CAM_ERRORS and ss_timeout (in the syslog).

When I use 'scu', I can successfully connect to the drive an
geometry, although sometimes this takes a full timeout before happening.

Has anyone hooked up one of these drives to the internal SCSI bus
on an Alphastation before?

Would there be any reason why it times out?
