Hi Everyone,
My original question had to do with: 1) whether I could safely remove
System V Environment software subsets from my system, 2) what were the
potential pitfalls, and 3) would my LAT (SVR4 devices) be affected.
My gratitude is warmly extended to the following for their help:
Randy M. Hayman
Walt Kopy
Dejan Muhamedagic
They collectively said: YES, this could be done using "setld -d" and that
my LATs would not be affected. They also mentioned that some software
subsets are dependent upon others but that "setld" would tell me if I was
removing them out of order. Dejan was particularly kind and took time to
spell out instructions for the whole process. Since I'm still learning
UNIX, this was a real help.
I'm also happy to report that I came in over the weekend (don't we all?),
and was successful in removing the offending subsets. As a result, I no
longer get an SVE license error message when my system boots --which was my
objective. My LATs were fine, as everyone promised. : )
