Hello,
I have a DEC 3000 model 500 running 3.2G. I have accidentaly performed a
'mkfdmn' and a 'mkfset' on an advfs volume/slice (sorry, not terribly
familiar with Digital UNIX terminology) containing some much needed
data.
Upon mounting the slice it appears to have been freshly formatted, but I
was wondering if firstly - the data still exists on the disk (minus a few
vital bits), and secondly is it at all possible to retrive the data.
I am aware now that when adding a previously used slice back into the
system, the relevant links should be created in /etc/fdmns by hand,
however I have been unable to find out exactly what the mkfdmn and mkfset
commands do past what little information is in the man pages.
Also, unfortunately, my knowledge of the advanced file system is limited
to what exists in the installation guide. Anybody know of any pointers?
Cheers,
Mark.
