Managers,
I just did an installupdate -i on a Digital Unix 4.0 system (to 4.0b). The
box is a DEC 3000/400. Here is what I did:
Installed the Firmware Update V3.8
# shutdown now
# /sbin/bcheckrc
# /sbin/installupdate -i /dev/rz4c
The first installupdate failed because /home was a link not a directory, so I
made it into a directory and did the installupdate again. This time after
about 7 minutes of
Checking current state of system
I see one instance of the message
NFS2 server cars1 not responding still trying
and an hour later, the installupdate is *still* checking the current state of
the system. As far as I know, cars1 is only mounted by the automounter and
nothing I am doing should cause it to be mounted. Also, cars1 is up.
/ and /usr are both AdvFS.
I am afraid to interrupt the update.
How can I recover?
Thanks in advance.
