Hi Managers,

The following is a summary for those interested in using System V tools within their current Digital Unix environment.

Answer

1) SVE, as a whole is fairly reliable subsystem. It provides almost all of SVR4 features side-by-side with the Digital UNIX.
Installation is fairly simple. You can have either System V printing or print subset from the base. SVE requires a separate
license because of SVR4 royalty. Besides some of the disk stats on an MP system being not very reliable, sar is fairly stable.
2) System V needs extra licencing!!!
3) No recorded problems using it within the DU 3.2d environment - from DEC.
4) Overhead on system is minimal!
5) Any DU applications loaded will remain unaffected by the addition of the System V environment........

Overview - adding this software poses no problems other than budget for the licenses........
