Sybase accessing raw partition a

Hello everyone,

Does anyone know of a problem when configuring Sybase to use raw
partition
a. It is a RAID disk. Partitions d, e and f can be accessed
successfully but the procedure fails when trying to write to partition a.
 We tried extending partition b backwards from block 0. The same thing
happens. We also tried changing the partition offset for b to start from
block 16 - still no joy.

Any suggestions.
