SUMMARY: NSR licensing

My original question was;
>We have a draft proposal from Digital with the following items on it, all
for our 4100 Alpha with DU on it:
> QL-5RGAG-AA NSR HSM License
> QL-04WAL-34 Polycenter NSR Jukebox 3 Software Product
> Descr: 50.98 Concurrent
Use License
> QL-YUNAM-3B Polycenter Networker Archive Server Add-on
Module
> Descr: 50.98
Concurrent Use License
>We raised the question whether we might not need an NSR server license for
the 4100 and Digital's >reply was: "The Networker Save and Restore (NSR)
Base Server License is included free with the >Digital UNIX Operating
System," and so what was on the draft proposal will be all we need.
> That sounds good of course, but since a visiting Digital guy told us it
is common for Digital itself >to have problems putting the NSR licensing
pieces together and since another Digital guy on the phone >told us
informally he wasn't sure but had the feeling this was not all the pieces, I
want to ask anyone who >might know for confirmation that we will really not
need anything other than the pieces ordered to support >this functionality
(rather find out now than later).

Many thanks to Tom Webster, Andrew Greer, Demarthe Hervi, Bill Smoldt, Alan,
iwm, Knut Hellebo, Jef Hamlin and Ken Teh for their replies (think that is
everybody).

Answer is: Since our system comes with a NAS200 kit , we can do a nas
install and licenses for several products will be registered, including a
full-function server license that WILL support the stuff they have on the
draft PO. Thank goodness!
(This is not the same as the NSR Single Server, that comes even
without the NASkit but is EXTREMELY limited and would not support the
functionality needed. That is what had scared me, we brought this up before
and it was pretty much nothing.)

Thanks also to Tom for some good information about different levels of
client, etc., required but I'm not going to summarize other than the
original question (mainly cuz I'm not sure I have it all straight yet but at
least know some issues to be alert to).

I'm dropping pressing DEC on it since YOU ALL HAD THE ANSWERS!! Thanks
again!!!
