Thanks to all who replied (Lucio Chiappetti, Larry Griffith, Matt Moore,
Charles M. Richmond, Richard Rogers, and John P. Speno) - no one offered
any way to make login names >8 characters long (indeed, there's a constant
defined in /usr/include/prot.h which leads me to believe that it's Etched
In Stone). Everyone pointed out that one can call the majordomo account
anything, and alias it in /etc/aliases, which is what we've wound up doing.
