Greetings,
I hope this is not out of bounds for this group. I wish to check, and
monitor hardware configuration under program control. With the number of
hosts we have, sometimes the change control procedure doesn't always get
completed 8-).
So far I have written a program that pulls stuff out of the kernel using
getsysinfo(2). This is file, I can trace through buses, controllers, and
devices. Now, I would like to get firmware revisions, and configurations.
I seem to be stuck with either:
a) modifying the kernel and making making a 'configuration' device.
b) poking around in kernel memory while guessing which structures to use
c) finding a really neat utility to do it for me (I hope!),
Is there anyone who has started done this particular good idea, and found
some sort of solution.
With useful feedback, I'll summarise back to the group.
