Hi Folks,
About a year ago, I got an Alphastation 250-4/266 with an RZ28 as its
main internal disk. About a week after that, the disk dies. DEC
replaced the disk, and I asked this group about whether the AS 250
cabinet provided sufficient cooling for an RZ28. All the responses I
got indicated that there should be no problems running the RZ28 inside a
AS 250 cabinet.
It's been a little over a year, and I just experienced another failure
with the (replaced) RZ28. There are various errors that I can retrieve
from uerf, most of which indicate SCSI timeout errors with the drive.
I'm going to have DEC Field service replace the drive again, but I'm
still concerned. Does anyone else have any kind of long-term experience
with bigger drives mounted inside an AS 250 cabinet? My experience has
been pretty poor.
