Starting a script in /sbin/init.d

Hi,

I'm trying to start a shell script in /sbin/init.d. The link in
/sbin/rc3.d is fine and the script works fine too if started by hand.
The problem is that during boot, the script starts, but goes away just
after a few seconds. I've tried a lot of things, but nothing...
Does anyone have any idea about that? Some sort of trick ?

TIA
Wander
