Hello !
Sorry to waste net BW for DIGITAL lacking to send ad hoc doc (et toc !)
I browsed DIGITAL web sites but was not able to find harware manuals
(this can be viewed like a suggestion to Digtal webmasters).
Obviously, manual would have been shipped far after project closing ...
Initial question :
------------------
>With our last AS 255/266 we got a PowerStorm 3D30 (PBXGB-AA)
>video adapter instead of the usual Trio 64 adapter (PB2GA-JA)
>Of course, we have received the doc for the latter (EK-V330G-OG)
>named "9FX Vision 330 (PCI) Graphics Option Owner's Guide" ...
>and no doc for the PowerStorm 3D30 !
>1) What is the thumbwheel on the PBXGB-AA for ? I guess it is
>for resolution/refresh rate but without doc ...
>There is also a "glasses" icon and jack, for stereoscopy device ???
>If you know what corresponds to the different positions,
>and what is the "glasses" jack for, please let me know !
>2) We plan to buy a good one PB2GA-JA in order to have all WS
>with the same video. We could hence use the PBXGB-AA in a PC.
>Can somebody help me find a Windows 95 driver for such a beast ?

I had no response about the Windows 95 driver availability for
--------------------------------------------------------------
the PowerStorm 3D30 adapter (it uses Cirrus Logic's GD5424 chip)
----------------------------------------------------------------
Any MS/W95 guru out there ??? (no, not you, Bill ;-)
The answer is :
---------------
switch Monitor Refresh
setting Resolution Rate (Hz)
0 1280x1024 72
1 1280x1024 66
2 1280x1024 60
3 1152x900 72
4 1600x1200 (1) 65
5 1024x768 70
6 1024x768 72
7 1024x864 60
8 1024x768 60
9 800x600 72
A 800x600 60
B 640x480 72
C 640x480 60
D 1280x1024 75
E 1280x1024 60
F 1600x1200 (1) 75
(1) PBXGB-CA 16 MB Module only
I hope that came out formatted okay. So, D is about the best setting
(highest resolution and refresh rate).
The stereoscopic port is not much mentioned in the manual. There is a
page
that mentions that "StereoGraphics, a leading manufacturer of true
stereoscopic viewing systems, produces equipment that allows stereo
viewing
applications to work with your PBXGB-AA/CA." They are located in San
Raphael, CA and their phone number is (415) 459-4500, fax (415)
459-3020.
You'll need a special 3-meter cable, DEC 69990, and a monitor with
stereo
support (VRC21) to view stereo images.
Stereoscopic cable port, 3.5 mm (0.18 inch) audio jack connector
...

The two jumpers near the thumbwheel are for (1) enabling VGA (enabled
when
output is used as primary console display) and alias jumper pin (off for
a
4/2XX chip, on for a 5/2XX chip). There was a whole other manual and
CD-ROM
for "Graphics Support Services" on Windows NT. It has Windows NT drivers
for the PowerStorm, but I suspect that doesn't help much!
