Let me be blunt. I'm a rock when it comes to Digital UNIX. I got a DEC
Alpha with Digital Unix for class. I am now working for a major ISP and we
manage the world largest Windows NT server farm. I am responsable for that
farms uptime.

I am attempting to wipe out digital unix from my dec alpha and install
Windows NT Server on it. However I can not get the CDROM drive that I'm
borrowing from the company to mount on my alpha. I have searched the
archives and consulted with my UNIX techs at work. However, they're SunOS
experts and don't know the first thing about Digital UNIX.

I am clueless when it comes to the in's and out's of Digital unit. To
rebuild a Kernal is totally out of my relm of expterise. I'm a Windows
person. So please be kind when you respond. I am also not a total rock
when it comes to making my way though the OS. I know howto get around but
not how to do advanced operations like this.

I'm looking for step by step instructions on how to install the drive from
scratch. i.e. I pluged the drive into the SCSI port... now what? I know
you'll need more information from me. If you're willing to work with me...
I'm willing to work with you.

I have made a post to a news group with this queston and have not had the
best success.

I need YOUR help. When it's all done, I'll post the Summary to the group
so that anyone in my shoes can do this.

Thanks!

John
