C2 password aging

We are trying to setup C2 so that is does not expire the passwords
upon reboot do we edit the /etc/auth/system/default
and set :u_exp#0:u_life#0:u_minlen#5:u_maxlen#32:\?

will this not expire the passwords on reboot?
will this allow the password to be longer than 8 characters?
