I did two dumb things at the same time. (1) I changed the date on
a running (multi-user) system. (2) I made a typo and put the date
three months in the future.
Stop laughing.
The system hung. Not realizing my error I punched the reset and
noticed my error as the it booted. I immediately went to single-
user mode, corrected the date, and did a reboot (the actual command).
Then I did a touch -t to create a file with a future date, but
before Aug 12. Then a find -newer revealed some files and directories
which I touched to bring back to the present. My real question:
Is crontab going to be confused? If so what do I do to fix it?
Any other known gotchas? (This MUST have happened to someone else
at some time). -pat
