Hello managers
I have a problem with creating a user with a parent directory other than
/usr/users. I have a user who wants to upload WWW pages and edit them etc
in his own area of the website. I'm using the netscape commerce server
which takes /x/y/docs as its 'home'. I want to create the users account with
the parent directory as /x/y/docs/username so that the Web server 'sees' the
pages they upload into their own area(parent directory). I don't want them
to have access to the other webpages. Without a thorough study of all file
permissions I feel this would be the easiest way(!). When I do this I can't
log in as the new user...I get 'No directory' - I feel this is because of
permission settings higher up the tree /x/y/docs/username. Can I create a
user parent directory anywhere so that it exists such that it can be seen by
other directories but cannot see them? Hope this makes sense!
TIA
Paul
