AlphaStation 255 hangs w/ Inlay Patterns and Netscape

Our AlphaStation 255/233 and its ZLXp2-E video card have been hanging
rather unpleasantly under two conditions: 1) when an Inlay* desktop pattern
is selected, and 2) when Netscape views pages with certain textured
backgrounds. I found what may be a fix to the former problem (Install
Open3D 4.1) in the alpha-osf-managers archives, and I'm wondering if this
will solve the Netscape hang as well.
