Here's my original message:
Hello Managers...
I've been trying to get my CDROM to play cd audio through the speaker
port in the back of my alphastation 255/233 running Digital Unix 4.0b.
I've opened it up and looked at the audio wires connecting the CDROM to
the motherboard...but how do I get it to play through the speaker port?
Would that just be something that's supported under NT?
Right now I have to plug my speakers into the front of the CDROM.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in Advance...I'll summarize!
Thanks to Paul Kitwin and Eric Anderson for their help.

"From what I've been told about our alphastation 400/233 running
digital unix 3.2d is that the sound card can only beep unless
it's running Windows NT for Alpha, and then there is device
support for the soundblaster-like card. If you want any unix-based
audio apps you'll need a multimedia kit from Digital, which
consists of an additional/replacement(?) Sound card, and specialized
software, and a kernel rebuild."
Thanks again!
