I have an Alpha200 with an ATI Mach64 graphics card in it.
I recently upgraded this machine from 3.2c to 4.0a.
When the machine is running either CDE or the old DXsession
the mouse and cursor will periodically freeze. Sometimes it
comes back in about 10-20 seconds and other times it won't come
back at all requiring a restart of xlogin.
I've called Dec about this but they haven't come back with
any answers that fix the problem yet. I upgraded the firmware
to the version that comes with 4.0B. I also tried adding
the line *freezeOnConfig: true to .Xdefaults. Neither of
these seemed to fix anything. I also installed the 2 patches
for the ATI Mach64 graphics card that fix the screen save problem.
Does anyone have any ideas on what might be causing this?
