Disabling VRFY & EXPN on V5.65 vendor-supplied sendmail?

Is it possible to disable the VRFY & EXPN commands on a vendor-supplied
(read: no source, no binaries) V5.65 of sendmail running on a V3.2C
DEC OSF/1 machine?

Is there a good reason not to try?
