where do salvaged files go ?

One of our machines has just crashed and resurrected (actually it was not a
crash, it just halted, a used was trying to login while I was rebooting
another machine whose disk are needed).

I did the "standard" recovery procedure, i.e. boot single user, /sbin/bcheckrc
and then ^D to go to multiuser.

During the fsck I got a message about two files being salvaged (I know the
filesystem, inode and user id ... the funny thing is that this user was NOT
logged on at the time, so how could those files be open).

Now I wanted to check what files they were and how were they recovered.
This is the first time we have a salvaging by fsck on our Alphas. On all other
systems I'm used too (Ultrix and Suns) salvaged files are put into the
lost+found directory on the relevant filesystem.

However under DU (we have DU 3.2 and are NOT using advfs) there is no
lost+found. Where do salvaged files go ?
