lost+found

Can someone give me some guidance on how to restore files
from lost+found.

We had a panic caused by a disk problem last week and a user's
directory disappeared. Although we have a dump, I can see that
files belonging to the user are in lost+found.

Is it simple/possible to restore the user's directory
from lost+found and if so how, as all I see at the top-level
is (presumably) inode numbers.
