pseudo-terminal option in configuration file

OSF managers,

When I try to increase the pseudo-terminal from the default 255 to 512
by addying the option in configuration,

pseudo-device pty 512

I get the following error in the compilation:
ld:
pty.mod compressed: pty_lockinfo: multiply defined
*** Exit 1 (ignored)




If I add the following option:
pseudo-device rpty 512

I get this error:
ld:
Error: Undefined:
pts_cdev



Any suggestion is welcome.
