Hi,
I'm in the process of installing a couple of 4100 AlphaServers. After I install
OS, I can login to machine with no problem. CDE starts up just fine. I then
run netsetup to setup the network. After that I can't login and startup CDE
again, I get "DT messaging system can not be started..." Then I get a list to
say check hosts file for right name, etc and to use failsafe option to login to
system to fix the problem. I get a core dump from ttsession in user's home
directory.
I have been able to get around the problem by adding a line to .dtprofile
(export "DTNONETWORK=true") to say that there isn't a network. However all the
user accounts that I add are the same. There has to be something in the network
that hasn't been configured right by netsetup or perhaps an incorrect file
permission somewhere.
I even reinstalled the os from scratch (versions 4.0a and 4.0b) with the same
results and I also tried using two different 4100's.
