login:
and I can login
I dial up the same number with a pc and I can login there also (both modems are
new USR 56k)
when I dial the 2100 it all seems to work EXCEPT and this is a BIG problem
No echo
I actually get logged on but no echo from the 2100 to the pc.
a little ps from a window on the alpha as I do a few things by typing blind
# ps -A | grep tty00
1420 ttyp7 S + 0:00.02 grep tty00
1430 tty00 S + 0:00.06 /usr/sbin/getty /dev/tty00 M115200 vt100
# ps -A | grep tty00
1433 ttyp7 S + 0:00.01 grep tty00
1430 tty00 S + 0:00.10 login barnwell
# ps -A | grep tty00
1437 ttyp7 S + 0:00.01 grep tty00
1430 tty00 S + 0:00.11 login barnwell
# ps -A | grep tty00
1443 ttyp7 S + 0:00.02 grep tty00
1430 tty00 S + 0:00.26 -tcsh (tcsh)
# ps -A | grep tty00
1446 ttyp7 S + 0:00.01 grep tty00
1419 tty00 S + 0:00.08 ls -l
1430 tty00 S 0:00.28 -tcsh (tcsh)
mean time the screen is blank on the pc.
from /etc/inittab
modem1:23:respawn:/usr/sbin/getty /dev/tty00 M115200 vt100
from gettydefs
M115200# B115200 HUPCL CS8 ECHO ECHOE # B115200 SANE IXANY TAB3 HUPCL ECHO ECHOE
#login: #M57600
I also tried with out the ECHO/ECHOE at first
(There is no wrap in above line just one long line)
I have no idea what to try now.
Of course I have proved it can't be my fault which is why I can't see what I
have done wrong. So I would appreciate someone kicking me in the head and
showing me the error of my ways.
