Hello, managers,
I have the following problem:
Our AS250 4/255 runs DU4.0b and has C2 (ENHANCED SECURITY) enabled. The problem is that
people cannot access the dtlogin on our Alpha from their PCs using X11 emulation software
for Windows.
When a query is sent to the Alpha, it pops up a message box saying:
"Cannot obtain database information on this terminal"
As far as I know all X terminals and ttys on a trusted system must have an entry in
/etc/auth/system/devassign and /etc/auth/system/ttys databases. These entries can be
inserted there either manually, or by using dxdevices program.
And here two problems arise: dxdevices has two fields to be filled for an X-term:
"X display name" and "Device list" - I was unable to find proper documentaion on what these
fields have to contain for an X-terminal.
The second problem with these is that if I insert whatever values into the fields,
dxdevices does one of the following: dumps core or says:
"Cannot update the terminal protected database entry. Check the permissions on the file
(/etc/auth/system/ttys). ..."
the notorious permissions are: "-rw-rw-r-- 1 auth auth 1384 Jun 10 12:21 ttys"
which, I suppose, is correct...
What do managers have to say about this? Any help will be appreciated.
