Configuring a modem on AS4100

Hi,

Is there any trick to configure a modem on an AlphaServer 4100 ?

We´ve used the special modem port and it worked fine, but as we
understand, when we use this port we disable the graphic console, and we
don´t want this. So, we´re trying to use the serial port 1 (/dev/tty00).
We´ve enabled a getty process to listen on this port, and tested with
tip, but this doesn´t work.(as a matter of fact, we know that using the
COMM1 we will never see the P00>> prompt, but we can still work in this
way). We´ve tested the modem with an AS2100 with zero errors.
