SUMMARY: learning to write scripts

Hi,

I received a lot of excellent responses to my question about which
programming language to start off with first to do script writing.

I'd like to thank everyone who responded to my question. The list
is way too long to list here. The advice was excellent.

There was a lot said for atleast learning Perl by pretty much everyone
(which I know I should
do). There were suggestions to start with Bourne shell programming
and/or Korn Shell.
Also to get into C.

The one bit of advice that stuck out for me was "Learn what you will be
required to write in".

The way I'm going with this is what is needed in the job right now. I'm
sure both will
come my way, plus C probably, in time. That is how I'm closing this
summary :-)

thanks again,
Allan
