Application conflict with jumbo patch kit 0004

Hi all,

We just grabbed and installed the latest jumbo patch kit 0004 in our ALPHA
Station 255/300 running DU4.0B. Everything went well with the
installation, but we ran into a problem when using one of our applications:
IDL 5.0 (Interactive Data Language (www.rsinc.com)) which we use for reducing
and modeling data. The problem is the license manager for this program
fails with the following error (lots of these repeated):

/usr/local/rsi/idl_5/bin/bin.alpha/idl_lmgrd: /sbin/loader: Error:
unresolvable symbol in /usr/local/rsi/idl_5/bin/bin.alpha/idl_lmgrd:

We suspect(have tested) that the problems occur as a result of changing
the /shib/libc.so file (and probably other libraries). We can run the
application by replacing the new libc.so with the older version. (And we
can run earlier versions of IDL with the correct patched version of libc.so)

We want to keep the patch and still be able to use IDL 5.0. Has anyone
experienced a similar problem (ie. they cannot run an application with
this patch) and does anyone have a solution.

Many, many thanks
