Deleting mail automatically

Does anyone know if it is possible to delete mail messages using a script or
option parameter automatically?

Most users are currently using 'elm' for their mail processing.

Example:
  Some users would like to delete mail messages that match a 'From:' string.
    From: username_at_xyz.com

An alternative would be to automatically move all of the matching 'From'
messages to a separate mail folder and allow the user to periodically remove the
mail folder.
