Disk Conflicts

I have a DEC2100 4/275 and I wanted to put a disk in the slot 5
spot. Slot 6 is the cdrom and slot 7 conflicts with a kzpaa (I think)
...
All the other slots have disks (one rz29 and others rz28 and one tape
drive in slot 4)...

ok when I power off and on ...show device shows the disk.
But when I try to rebuild the kernel - the kernel that is created
I can't boot from. It just keeps looping and looping.
I then tried just to mount the disk w/out rebuilding the kernel.
this worked momentarily but during the upgrade to du 4.0 it
started giving me scsi cam erros on dka500 ...
so it still didn't work.

Any other bright ideas? Could my genvmunix be screwed up?
I'm currently on version 3.2c of digital unix and wanted to add
this drive so I would have the space to go to du 4.0 w/out risking
my old system disk.

Thanks in adv.
